Meally is the app where recipes from the internet finally end up in one place. You share a video, a link or a photo to the app — and within seconds it becomes a clean recipe with ingredients, amounts and steps. Meally isn't another recipe archive — it's the one home for every recipe: from TikToks and Reels, from websites, from a photo of a handwritten card, or from grandma. Around that: cooking mode with timers, a weekly meal plan, an automatic shopping list and recipe translation. Meally is built by a young couple from Prague, with no investors and no ad budget.

Martin Carska builds Meally — the app, the backend and everything technical. Natálie Novotná shapes the content, tests every feature in her own kitchen and looks after the community.

How Meally started

Meally started in our own kitchen. Natálie saved recipes everywhere — Instagram, TikTok, food blogs — and whenever we needed one, it was unfindable. At some point she said: “there should be an app for this.” So we built one.

And that's how it's worked ever since: the app grows with our own cooking life. Every time we caught ourselves saying “it should really do this” — while cooking, while shopping — we built it. That's how auto-categorisation happened, and recipe folders, translation, and sending a whole week's meal plan to the shopping list in one tap. There isn't a feature in Meally we didn't need ourselves.

Today, people in 50+ countries use it. It's still just the two of us — no investors, no ad budget. The app pays for itself.

Quote, free to use

“We build Meally for our own kitchen. When something is missing while we cook, we build it — which is why there isn't a feature in the app we didn't need ourselves.”

— Martin Carska, developer of Meally
