How to extract a recipe from a link

  1. Copy the link. On Instagram or TikTok, tap Share, then Copy link. On a recipe website, copy the address from your browser.
  2. Paste it above and tap Get the recipe. Websites take a few seconds; Instagram and TikTok can take up to 40.
  3. Read it, save it as a PDF, or keep it in Meally, where it lands in your recipe book.

What the extractor can read

  • Instagram Reels and posts: the recipe in the caption.
  • TikTok videos: the recipe in the caption, including vm.tiktok.com share links.
  • Facebook posts and Reels: the recipe in the post text.
  • Recipe websites and food blogs: most publish their recipes in a standard format the extractor reads exactly, including the servings, the total time and the photo. On other pages it reads the recipe out of the page text.

What it can't do

Recipes that are only spoken in the video. If the caption doesn't write the recipe down, there's no text to read. You still get the post's title and link, and you can add the recipe yourself in Meally.

Recipes shown only on photos. Take a screenshot of the photo with the recipe, then in Meally tap + and choose Photos.

Private accounts and pages behind a login. The extractor only sees what anyone can see without signing in.

Frequently asked questions

Is the recipe extractor free?

Yes. There's no account and no sign-up. To keep it running for everyone, each visitor can extract up to 20 links a day.

How do I get the recipe from an Instagram Reel?

Tap the paper-plane Share icon under the Reel, then Copy link, and paste the link above. The extractor reads the recipe from the caption.

Can I extract a recipe from a TikTok video?

Yes, when the creator wrote the recipe in the caption. Tap Share, then Copy link, and paste it above. If the recipe is only spoken in the video, there's no text to read.

Do you store the links or recipes I paste?

We don't keep the recipe. The link goes to Meally's server only to read it; like every request, it shows up in our server logs, which are deleted after 30 days. The privacy policy explains the details.

How do I save the recipe as a PDF?

Tap Save as PDF under the recipe. On a computer, choose Save as PDF as the printer. On iPhone, tap the Share icon in the print preview and choose Save to Files.

How is this different from the Meally app?

It's the same import engine. The extractor shows you one recipe at a time; the app keeps every recipe in your recipe book, where you can search it, change the servings, cook step by step and add it to your grocery list.
