Meally started as a personal project to organize a messy recipe collection. I kept screenshotting recipes from Instagram, bookmarking food blogs, and forgetting where everything was. The existing recipe apps either felt clunky, full of ads, or designed for restaurant chefs.
So I built Meally — the app I wished existed. Save any recipe in seconds. Strip the ads. Cook without distractions. That's it.
Today, Meally is used by home cooks across Europe and North America. It's still just two of us — me and Natálie — building this slowly and intentionally. No investors, no aggressive growth tactics, no data harvesting. Just a tool that works.

Everything people ask before they install Meally. If your question isn't here, email info@meallyapp.com.
Yes — Meally is free to download and the core features stay free. There are no ads and no data harvesting. We may add optional paid tools for power users down the road, but the basics will remain free. Built by a small indie team.
Open any TikTok video or Instagram Reel, tap the Share button, and select Meally. The app extracts the recipe from the caption, on-screen text, and where applicable the spoken steps using AI. The full recipe — title, ingredients, and steps — is saved to your collection in seconds.
Meally imports from over 100 recipe websites including Allrecipes, Bon Appétit, Serious Eats, BBC Food, Tasty, Food Network, NYT Cooking, BBC Good Food, and most major food blogs. The import strips ads, popups, and life-story preambles, leaving only the ingredients and steps.
Yes. Once a recipe is saved, it works completely offline — including Cooking Mode and the Shopping List. Importing new recipes requires a connection because the app needs to fetch the source.
English, Czech, German, Spanish, and French. More languages are planned based on demand.
Meally focuses on three things: the easiest possible import from social media (TikTok, Instagram, photos of cookbook pages), a clean ad-free distraction-free cooking experience, and optional meal planning when you want it. Unlike many recipe apps, Meally is free to start, with no ads and no data harvesting. It is built by an independent two-person team, not a venture-backed startup.
Yes. Most recipe apps export to a standard URL format or PDF. Send any recipe URL via the Share Sheet to Meally and it will be imported. For PDFs or photos of recipe cards, use the photo import.
iPhone (iOS 15+), iPad, and Android phones (Android 8+). The same recipe collection syncs across all your devices when you sign in.
Not yet. Meally is currently a mobile app, optimized for use in the kitchen. Web access is on the roadmap.
